What Our Clients Say

As the parent of an age group swimmer, you’re constantly seeking out resources to help your child excel in the sport. We discovered SWIMVICE in 2019 in search for instructional tips to address my daughter, Rachel Hutchins’ development in breaststroke to improve her performance in the individual medley. We flew from Maryland to Northern California to spend a week with the coach whose expertise seemed perfectly suited for my child’s needs. The days spent with Coach Mandy led to breakthrough performance and confidence which has served Rachel well. Coach Mandy’s focus on explosive starts, quick turns, stroke refinement, and proper technique to avoid injury are principals we consistently apply. Since training with Coach Mandy, Rachel has gone on to win countless High School, statewide, and national events.
SWIMVICE addresses every aspect of training for enhanced performance in the pool or open water.
If you’re seeking in-person or virtual guidance from a premier swim instructor, we highly recommend SWIMVICE. Guaranteed to exceed expectations!

In just three months, Coach Mandy helped me to go from non-swimmer to completing the 1.25-mile open water swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco.
I had attempted and failed to learn to swim multiple times as a child and as an adult, which only reinformed my fear of deep water. Swimming lessons never seemed to help. That all changed when I meet Coach Mandy from SWIMVICE. With in-person coaching 4 to 6 times per week and specifically designed self-practice routines, it took less than a month before I was swimming laps in the pool. In less than 2 months, I was swimming in open water. Then after 3 months, I swam from Alcatraz to San Francisco. Having confidence in the water has opened a whole new world to me. It’s allowed me to also pursue freediving and scuba diving.
I owe a huge thank you to Coach Mandy for the invaluable coaching. She introduces new techniques at a very digestible pace. I always feel challenged to master a new aspect to swimming technique but am never overwhelmed. The teaching pace is spot on. I sing her praises to anyone that is looking to learn how to swim or improve on technique. Though I’m moving out of the area, I plan to visit regularly, just so I can continue to train with Coach Mandy!

When I was 10 yrs old, my Mom made me take Red Cross swim lessons. I actually became comfortable in the water and learned some basic swim skills. But growing up in San Francisco years ago, there weren’t many pools around, and eventually I stopped swimming. Decades passed, and at age 45 I had a major health crisis and had to take control of my health and fitness. I joined the gym and discovered a passion for exercise and I became an athlete; running, cycling, weight training, yoga and I was skilled at all of it. But I never really learned to swim and I wanted to because of its value in sustaining a healthy lifestyle and because I’d missed out on the fun and enjoyment of being in the water.
So 50 years later, I decided it was time to learn to swim, for real this time! I was 60 years old and I had no confidence and fear of the water. I took lessons for 2 years and learned freestyle, breast and backstroke well enough to be able to lap swim at my aquatic center. I loved it! I even dared to call myself a swimmer! Then the pandemic hit and though I was fortunate to swim during that time, lessons were no longer available. Youtube videos became my training resource with mostly undesirable results. I could feel in my stroke that I was quickly losing ground without a clue how to fix it. Eventually I struggled to swim laps, seriously hurt my shoulder from bad technique, and I nearly quit swimming out of pure frustration. When the pandemic ended, I searched for a coach without luck, until one day Coach Mandy appeared on my Youtube feed coaching the dolphin kick. I was super impressed with the quality of her coaching, but the best thing I learned that day was that Coach Mandy had been a Masters coach at my aquatic center, and she was now offering private swim lessons 15 minutes from my home. I couldn’t believe my fortune.
Within a month, I had my first lesson with Coach Mandy with a goal to try out and get accepted to San Mateo Masters. During my consultation, she assured me that she could help me achieve my goal. I’ve now been a student of Coach Mandy’s for 2 months, and in that time she has worked with me in depth to reconstruct my freestyle. I now swim without pain, more relaxed, and more efficiently! And I love swimming again and I have a deep passion for being in the water, which I never expected. In every session, Coach Mandy evaluates my progress and provides clear instructions and tips to improve my technique that I can incorporate into my practice, and then layers on the next step methodically in my training. It’s the quality of her coaching, how every word and demo helps me understand and envision the actions to take in the water. Coach Mandy has taught me things about technique that I never even knew existed.
Coach Mandy is a skilled, experienced coach and teacher. With her focused practice instructions, I head to the pool and practice on my own 5 days a week to imprint my new skills and reinforce what I’ve learned before, and that’s been invaluable in my development. I look forward to my lessons and I have no doubt that I will try out and make the Masters team, and, as an exciting new goal for me, to swim in open water. Coach Mandy has opened up a new world for me. I can’t convey how grateful I am for her, and the expertise, dedication, and the immeasurable hard work she puts in to share her gift of coaching swimmers and her love of the water. I haven’t even mentioned what an amazing swimmer she is! So inspiring!

“I started working with Mandy four years ago in a group weekend class at the College of San Mateo. At that time, I was struggling after swimming just one or two laps. A year ago, I had progressed to swimming a mile (70 laps in a 25 yard pool) 2-3 times a week, in 48 minutes. With her coaching on my technique over the past several months, I now swim my mile, 3-4 times a week, in 42 minutes, with less effort. I’m 75 years old, had a quadruple bypass three years ago, and Mandy’s classes and training sessions have changed my life, and probably added on several years to it as well. I rarely give unqualified recommendations, but Mandy has mine, either for in-person or virtual training. She takes a personal interest in each of her clients and her teaching skills and knowledge are exceptional!”
